Shawn Coker

Shawn Coker began his real estate investing career in Phoenix, Arizona in 1992 during one of the worst real estate markets on record. He saw an opportunity to capitalize on undervalued assets and began buying single-family and small apartment complexes that required rehab. With the understanding that real estate runs in cycles, he employed a "buy and hold" strategy which helped him accumulate over 100 rental units. In time the market recovered, and he used an owner-finance strategy to create positive cash flow.

In 1998 he moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to assist in an internet start-up company. When the internet business fell on hard times, he returned to "what he knew best" and began investing in real estate in the Metroplex. Locating undervalued assets was the strategy again, and DFW was very similar to Phoenix in that there were many opportunities.

After spending several years rehabbing, selling, and holding properties, Mr. Coker along with his partners, recognized an opportunity in the asset-based lending industry. The industry seemed under-served, and NPOT Partners was formed in order to provide other investors with the capital they needed to rehab properties. In 2005, this venture was launched with the idea that service and speed were what customers needed and wanted.

Today, NPOT Partners/reQuest Capital is a leading asset-based lender in the DFW area.
